Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, this position is responsible for analyzing, planning and executing improvement initiatives related to the processes and systems of the Division, in conformance with sound professional accounting principles, internal controls and established policy. Duties include leading project initiatives, process re-engineering, process automation and system enhancement tasks; designing and implementing financial controls and procedures; spearheading the development of business requirements and designing and testing of systems and processes in implementing new systems; leading in integration projects, system migrations and implementation of new processes; establishing and leveraging strong partnerships with other business units to ensure compliance with Ministry guidelines for reporting and claim submissions. Other duties include performing special projects as assigned and preparing working papers, account reconciliations and financial reports, backing up Accounting supervisors and supervision of staff as required.
Qualifications include professional accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA or CPA); plus a bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Additional requirements include working knowledge of problem definition and analysis related to business processes, gathering business requirements, proposing improved business processes, preparing test plan and conversion plan and assisting in change management activities. This position requires working knowledge of SAP modules such as FI-AP, FI-CO, PSCD, PS; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and to work well independently and within a team environment. Ability to handle all aspects of supervision including coordination and supervision of the work of a moderate number of staff in order to meet established deadlines.
