Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Parks & Environment, the Manager of Engineering Services has professional engineering and administrative responsibilities in the planning, budgeting, implementing of capital projects, oversight of asset management and other programs, and for managing technical and professional staff, including those in the bargaining unit. The successful candidate will have up-to-date technical knowledge and the ability to prepare construction work schedules for capital works, traffic and environmental projects.  The Manager of Engineering Services reviews and reports to the Director on subdivision plans, engineering drawings, zoning and development permit applications.  The position requires assessing building permits and subdivision plans for engineering servicing requirements, preparing contract documents for tender, preparing engineering designs and cost estimates as well as overseeing consultants on City construction projects. Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and representing the department at Council meetings is fundamental to the role.   
 
A University degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience in municipal engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired.  Applicants must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia or be eligible to be registered within one year.  A valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
