Building Services Manager
The City of Revelstoke, (www.cityofrevelstoke.com) is a vibrant community of 8,000 in the heart of British Columbia between the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains. To achieve its mission of efficiently providing top level services that enhance the quality of life for all of its residents and take full responsibility for the delivery, management and administration of building inspection and business licensing services, the City is looking to attract an accomplished Building Services Manager.
As a key member of the Development Services Department and leading a small team, you will be both an active building official and be responsible for managing and administering all aspects of the city’s building and sign bylaw, business regulation & licensing and other aspects of city regulations tied to construction oversight in the community. The position is accountable to and works under the direction of the Director of Development Services often liaises with engineering and public works and emergency services staff ensuring timely administration of safety and code related regulations.
To qualify you will ideally have Level III Certification from the Building Officials’ Association of BC, coupled with Level II Certification from the Plumbing Officials Association of BC and hold valid membership in the BOABC (Building Officials' Association of British Columbia). In addition you will have a sound understanding of the BC Building Code, the local government act and community charter, municipal by-laws and regulations pertaining to building construction. You are a big picture leader, practical problem solver, deal effectively with competing priorities and are highly respected for your ability to work well under pressure. You are an experienced strategic leader known for your ability to execute and deliver results on time and on budget. You have experience managing diverse teams in a unionized environment and are well respected for your professionalism, commitment and passion in your leadership role. You hold your staff accountable yet you are realistic. Your impeccable people skills are your trademark and you deal effectively with all levels of clients and staff.
