Dog Control Officer II (Full-time)
We are seeking applications for the full-time position of Dog Control Officer II. Reporting to the Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out dog control bylaw enforcement duties throughout the Regional District of Central Okanagan. This position helps maintain public safety through assisting with other local governments and law enforcement agencies. Excellent communication skills and a calm and effective approach when dealing with the public is vital to providing dog control bylaw enforcement. This position will include responding, investigating, and attending to complaints regarding dogs while promoting public safety, educating, and counseling dog owners on dog regulations and the investigation process. In this position, you will respond to injured dogs.
To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as Dog Control Officer I or equivalent. As well, completion of Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills (Level II) or equivalent is required. You must be able to prioritize work and work effectively unsupervised. The position requires experience with understanding dog health, behavior, and handling as well as the ability to communicate in a diplomatic & effective manner. Computer skills such as Word and Outlook are required and Vadim & ShelterPro are considered an asset. A valid BC Driver’s License with record of safe driving and completion of WHMIS and First Aid Level I is a requirement. This position requires flexible work hours and on call availability.
This is a full-time position to commence immediately. We offer a competitive salary of $32.46 and a full range of benefits.
