Director of Finance

Princeton (originally Vermilion Forks) is a town in the Similkameen region of southern British Columbia, Canada. It lies just east of the Cascade Mountains and the Tulameen and Similkameen Rivers converge here. At the 2016 census, the population was 2,828. Princeton centres on seven blocks of businesses along Bridge Street and five blocks on Vermilion Avenue; there are also businesses along British Columbia Highway 3.
The Town of Princeton is seeking a motivated, multifaceted professional for the position of Director of Finance.  Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you will be a member of the senior management team and responsible for the overall financial management of the municipality. 
Related duties include: budgeting, preparation of financial reports, managing investments, insurance and claims, cash flow management, taxation and utility rate setting and collection, payroll, WorkSafeBC & Benefits claim payroll, property tax process, lease contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, internal control maintenance and overseeing the clerical department staff, excluding the Executive Assistant and Bylaw Officer, in collaboration with the CAO. 
The successful candidate will have a proven record of leadership in a similar position and excellent communication abilities; a teamwork approach coupled with a desire to strengthen the financial position of this unique community.  You are able to oversee staff, impart vision, provide and manage change, time management skills and problem solving skills.
The successful candidate should poses a recognized professional accounting designation  or a combination of other education and experience, a minimum of five years’ experience in the local British Columbia government sector and a good working knowledge of relevant local government legislation (Workers Compensation Board, Employment Standards, other).  In additional strong skills in operation of Towns municipal accounting system VADIM Software is an asset.
