New Westminster, population 70,000, celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2009, and is Canada's oldest incorporated city west of the Great Lakes.
This tight-knit, friendly community is known for its historic and heritage sites, annual festivals, shopping opportunities and diverse neighborhoods. New Westminster, and its place within the larger region, has never been so appealing or relevant.
Located at the geographic centre of Metro Vancouver, and with its diverse and historic neighborhoods, growing waterfront developments, world class amenities and flourishing tech and small business environment, the City has become known as an ideal place in which to invest, live and work.
The municipality, and in particular, the Department of Finance, has been a key facilitator in managing the City’s growth to date.
Due to a retirement, a new Director, Finance/CFO is being sought to lead and manage a broad set of functions including the City’s financial, purchasing, customer billing and collection operations, including performing the statutory duties as the City’s Financial Officer and Collector. These functions are provided to City Council, Police Board, Library Board, Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Management Team.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director will lead and manage a team of approximately 30 full and part time staff.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead a team in enhancing an already highly attractive community and to propel it to new heights.
