Development Technologist II

We are seeking a Subdivision & Development Technologist to join our Planning & Development Department. Working as part of the Development Services team, the successful incumbent will act as a key technical resource to internal and external stakeholders in the stewarding of applications to successful completion of the application process including advising on engineering design, legal and financial aspects. This position will have a focus towards development applications pertinent to road, water, storm and sanitary sewer system construction consistent with the City’s Bylaws, regulatory and legislative requirements.  

This position will act as an information resource to applicants in the compliance of the City’s policies, procedures, regulations, bylaws, and other requirements; identifying application changes and provide expertise in alternate design solution; attending final inspections; key resource and liaison to other internal City departments respecting the completion of engineering and landscaping requirements; and providing direction on the correction of maintenance deficiencies and the acceptance of as-constructed drawings.    

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a post-secondary program with a diploma in Civil, Structural or Geological Engineering plus sound related experience, preferably in a municipal environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desirable.  A valid BC Driver’s license is required.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position (2018 rate) is $37.23 - $44.83 per hour based on a 35 hour work week plus a comprehensive benefits package.
