Coordinator, Police Fleet Mechanic
Regular Full Time Position
The District of Saanich is seeking a Red Seal Certified Mechanic to perform specialized mechanical work of a technical nature for the police fleet and oversee other assigned certified mechanics. The Coordinator, Police Fleet Mechanic provides service, maintenance, welding, electrical and fabrication work on a wide variety of police vehicles, and equipment; coordinates and plans the work and ensures the safety requirements are met. The successful candidate will work with Police staff on specifications of new vehicles, coordinating delivery, up fitting upon arrival and quality control inspections of the new vehicles.
Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent; Provincial Trades Qualification Certificate and Certificate of Apprenticeship in commercial transport, automotive or heavy duty mechanics; Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate; five years of experience in applicable trade including one year supervisory experience in a related operational work area; Occupational First Aid Level 1; valid Class 3 B.C. Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement; completion of Microsoft Word, Excel courses or equivalent and enhanced criminal record check. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).
