Energy Projects Manager
(Temporary Full Time)

We are looking for a temporary full time Energy Projects Manager for two years to join our Planning Department. Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Sustainability, you will be responsible for advancing the City’s energy and climate action programs and policies.
You will research, plan, and manage projects and programs to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the City’s corporate operations and throughout the wider community. You will be responsible for preparing and managing budgets and funding applications as well as selecting and supervising consultants. You will complete reports with respect to energy and GHG savings achieved through specific initiatives, prepare recommendations and assist in updating the City’s corporate and community climate action plans. This job involves working closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders including various City departments, other levels of government, and utilities. The successful candidate will provide expert advice, technical analysis and guidance to Council and senior staff, City departments, and the public.
Key deliverables for this position include the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in civic facilities and corporate operations as well as the reduction of community-wide energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, resource management, business, or science combined with one of the following: designation in the Province of BC as a Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy and sustainability, sound experience in project management, business case development, and contract management. Considerable knowledge of building energy efficiency principles, strategies, technologies, and systems is required. In addition, you will have a demonstrated ability to manage data, exemplary interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license is also required.
