The City of Port Coquitlam is looking for a positive, energetic and knowledgeable Business Analyst to support our Recreation team through the analysis of business and financial operations and the ongoing improvement of systems and process initiatives within the Recreation Department.

Reporting to the Director of Recreation, the successful applicant will also provide support to the Department with upgrades, testing, training and implementation of new financial and business operating systems; assist other departments with use of the systems as needed; and provide support for the business, financial and audit functions of the City.
If you possess many of the following characteristics and skills then we want to meet you!
  • You have considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures; financial systems and accounting operations;
  • You have an expert level of proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products and ERP systems, preferably in Agresso, ActiveNet and/or Class systems;
  • You have a degree which includes courses in data analysis and/or research methodology, accounting, and financial management, such as business management, information systems or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution;
  • You have a minimum of five (5) years’ of directly related work experience including supervision, data analysis, and systems support preferably in Local Government;
  • You have a passion for people and are skilled at building positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts;
  • You are able to independently analyse business operations data including complex financial transactions;
  • You are able to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations;
  • You have the ability and willingness to quickly learn and put new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology to use;
  • You are a driven, self-starter who prefers to be lightly supervised;
  • You have a valid class 5 driver’s license for the province of BC;
  • You are a skilled and effective communicator;
  • You take your work very seriously but not yourself;
  • You are fun and playful in your approach to work and life!
