The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) was established in 1989 to meet the needs and represent the Tŝilhqot’in communities of Tl’etinqox, ʔEsdilagh, Yunesit’in, Tŝi Deldel, Tl’esqox and Xeni Gwet’in to re-establish a strong political government structure.
 
TNG is currently seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director leads the organization and its staff team in achieving the organization’s mandate, through TNG’s goals and vision. The Executive Director is responsible for the over-all development, implementation, administration and management of day-to-day operations within the current policies, by-laws and procedures under the direction of the 6 Tŝilhqot’in Chiefs.
 
The successful candidate will:
  • Possess a Post-Secondary Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, commerce and/or Masters of Business Administration. Equivalent combination of related education, training and managerial experience with the public or private sector may be considered
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of First Nation’s needs, issues, and aspirations as well as experience with various levels of government and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Indian Act, other relevant legislation/ policies, Nenqay Deni Accord and Tŝilhqot’in Nation’s direction
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, auditing standards and practice and financial management with a minimum of five years’ experience in governmental accounting and experience with First Nation government and funding agencies
  • Proven experience in a non profit funding accounting procedures/non profit organizational structures, contract management and program evaluation
  • Minimum of five years proven senior management experience
  • Superior verbal and communication skills, strong leadership/cultural awareness qualities and empathy
  • Proven solution focussed, trust-based management style
  • Proven ability to work with diverse people, communities and funders’ requirements
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence and be willing to travel as required
