Budget Officer II

(Permanent, Full-Time)

The West Vancouver Financial Services Division is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Budget Officer II position. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Budget Officer II provides expertise and leadership in the development and management of operating and capital budgets, financial and business planning, and reporting.
The key responsibilities for this position include:
  • Driving efficiencies in budget planning & execution through in-depth understanding of cost and revenue drivers, process optimization techniques, and organizational goals & capabilities;
  • Maintaining regular reporting (collecting, verifying, analyzing, and presenting complex financial data from multiple sources) and providing ad-hoc analysis using ERP systems, Excel, and presentation tools while meeting tight deadlines & ensuring high data quality
  • Leading cross-departmental project teams in the areas of resource management & stewardship, process improvement, and performance measurement & management; and,
  • Performing other related duties as required.
The preferred candidate will possess: significant knowledge of accounting frameworks and best practices; excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills; in-depth experience with analytical & financial tools including large-scale ERP systems, Excel, and specialized data analysis/presentation software; a proven track record of driving efficiencies in the utilization of financial resources; the ability to foster collaboration in a complex organizational environment; a history of high performance & accountability for delivering outcomes while working independently with minimal detailed instruction.
The successful candidate has completed a Bachelor’s degree or greater in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field and possesses at least 3 years of experience in an equivalent role requiring extensive analysis of complex financial information, or an equivalent combination of education & experience. Enrollment in or completion of a CPA program would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable criminal record check and a copy of their credentials. 

Position Status: Exempt – Permanent, Full-Time
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
