The University Endowment Lands (UEL) is a program in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Local Government Division. UEL provides municipal-like services to a small community located between the University of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver. Services include the provision of public works (water, sanitary, storm, solid waste, sidewalk and road infrastructure), development services (planning and building construction regulation) and administration (permits, licences and bylaw enforcement).
This position is responsible for the application and enforcement of the UEL Land Use, Building and Community Administration Bylaw, the UEL Official Community Plan and the UEL Act and Regulations. The Planning Technician provides technical information pertaining to land use and development regulations, and undertakes assigned tasks and projects including the review and processing of various types of land use and development applications. The Planning Technician works independently; exercising initiative and judgement to ensure work meets required standards for quality and is completed on schedule.
Qualifications for this role include:
- University degree in Land Use Planning, or technical diploma from a recognized institution in architectural, construction technology, planning, or equivalent combination of education, training and 2 years related experience, preferably in a local government setting.
- Preference may be given to applicants with 2 years of experience in a local government.
Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
