Chief Building Inspector
The Permits and Inspections Division in Sustainable Planning and Community Development is responsible for issuance and inspections of building, plumbing and electrical permits.
An exciting opportunity is available within this Department for the Chief Building Inspector! As the Chief Building Inspector, you coordinate, assign and review the work of approximately 7 FTE staff involved in building and plumbing inspections and plans reviews. You also maintain schedules, prepare reporting metrics procedures and established performance and safety standards are met; responsible for full supervision
In this role as Chief Building Inspector you will be affecting and making changes to policies, bylaws, regulations and disputes related to building & plumbing inspection and permits; review and approve proposed equivalents and alternate methods of construction to the building code, make recommendations on alternative solutions; prepare correspondence and reports; make presentations to Council or Committee; represent the department at various meetings, public forums and Court proceedings; representative of the Technical Review Committee and member of the RESPOND team.
