2012 Conference Information - Book Your Flights Early!

Registrations are now being accepted for CAMA's 2012 Annual Conference being held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from May 28-30, 2012 at TCU Place. The Conference theme is "Thriving in Turbulent Times".  

The City of Saskatoon has very high air traffic volumes at all times, so plan to book your flights early to ensure you can get the best prices, and arrive on the date that suits your plans especially with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference taking place immediately following the CAMA Conference.  

Registration Fees:

  • CAMA Member (Municipal) $575.00 + $28.75 GST = $603.751/4
  • Non-Member (Municipal) $675.00 + $33.75 GST = $708.75 1/4
  • Affiliate CAMA Member (Non-Municipal) $875.00 + $43.75 GST = $918.75 2/4
  • Non-Member (Non-Municipal) $975.00 + $48.75 = $1023.75 2/4
  • Retired Member/Municipal Intern $150.00 + $7.50 GST = $157.50 3

 “Municipal” refers to an individual who is currently employed with a municipal organization.
2   “Non-Municipal” refers to all other individuals.
3    Registration fee for Retired Members and Municipal Interns includes all conference sessions, a complimentary delegate gift, Trade Show, Opening Reception, breakfasts, breaks, Casual Night Out at the Western Development Museum, and the Hospitality Suites. Tickets can be purchased for an additional cost to the lunches, the Study Tours, and the President’s Dinner.
4   Registration fees include all conference sessions, a complimentary delegate gift, Trade Show, Opening Reception, breakfasts, breaks, lunches, Casual Night Out at the Western Development Museum, President’s Dinner and the Hospitality Suites.

Note:  Additional tickets to the Casual Night Out ($115.00) and the President’s Dinner ($125.00) can be purchased for companions not participating in the full Companion Program.
 

An additional fee will be charged for the Study Tours as follows:

$10.00 + $0.50 GST = $10.50 for CAMA Members (Municipal) and Non-Members (Municipal)

$25.00 + $1.25 GST = $26.25 for Affiliate CAMA Members (Non-Municipal)

$35.00 + $1.75 GST = $36.75 for Non-Members (Non-Municipal)

For those wishing to pay by cheque, register online then forward payment to the CAMA National Office. Registering online is the only way to sign up for this year's Conference. We Need Your Input: Railway-Roadway Grade Crossings Regulations and Standards Consultations

Railway-Roadway Grade Crossings Regulations and Standards have been revised to address owners’ concerns from previous consultations, and to provide a safer crossing environment for pedestrians and motor vehicles and improve rail safety across the country.  Mr. Luc Bourdon, Director General of Rail Safety of Transport Canada is inviting CAMA members to participate in a consultation process to obtain comments on the draft Railway-Roadway Grade Crossings Policy prior to publishing the Regulations in the Canada Gazette, Part I.  The consultations will be conducted in two phases:

  1. An online consultation process, where comments can be submitted through a written submission and complete a registration form to confirm attendance on the second phase. Deadline date is March 30, 2012.
  2. A series of targeted consultation meetings with grade crossing owners across Canada.

The CAMA Board of Directors is inviting your participation to sit on a Sub-Committee to work together to develop a strategy/unified position on the Railway-Roadway Grade Crossings Regulations and to work with Transport Canada to participate in the future consultation meetings.  If you are interested in participating in this opportunity please contact Ms. Jennifer Goodine, Executive Director, at the CAMA National Office at [email protected] as soon as possible.

LGMA Spring 2012 E-Learning Series - March Schedule

CAMA is pleased to continue its partnership with LGMA BC (Local Government Management Association of British Columbia) to deliver webinar-based professional development opportunities for local government managers across Canada.  This webinar series will be delivered by Tracey Lorenson, Paragon Strategic Services & Jan Enns Communications.  Web based E-Learning courses provide the ability to participate via either internet and audio, or audio only. The technology allows participants to ask questions or comment via either voice or a “chat” feature.  The webinars are scheduled to run over two consecutive weekdays from:

  • 10:00 am - 11:30 am Pacific Time
  • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Mountain Time
  • 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm Central Time
  • 1:00 pm -  2:30 pm Eastern Time
  • 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm  Atlantic Time
  • 2:30 pm -  4:00 pm Newfoundland

The cost for each session is $150 plus 12% HST per person. All fees must be paid at the time of registration by credit card and are non-refundable.
