She brings experience in coordinating, developing and planning social media campaigns in a field that is evolving very rapidly. We are excited to have her on board as we get ready for the 2012 CAMA Conference in Saskatoon, SK.
Don't forget to get Connected!
CAMA's social media tools were launched on December 2nd, 2011. Here is the suite of social media tools now available to CAMA members:
-
Twitter (www.twitter.com/camalink) - This will be the quickest and easiest way to communicate with us. We will update conference information, provide links to relevant articles and news items, and reach out to a broad range of members, affiliates, partners and sponsors. CAMA staff will be responsible for monitoring the Twitter account.
-
Facebook (www.facebook.com/CAMALink) - You can now 'Like' us on Facebook. Our fan page will be the home base for conference information, sharing exciting news and updates with the 'fans', and allow not only members, but sponsors, and other affiliates to keep up-to-date with CAMA. All Twitter updates will also link to Facebook. This page will be monitored for relevancy and to make sure that it is not being misused.
-
CAMA Link Blog - Homebase for all social media, and open only to CAMA members. Access will be by login only. This will be the most dynamic of the tools, and any blog member will have access to the other tools. It is important to note that not all Twitter followers or Facebook fans will be able to access the CAMA Link blog. The blog will be updated with specific conference information, and news stories, but will also provide a forum for members to share ideas, provide advice, and discuss issues pertinent to the field of municipal management in a safe, and secure space. There will also be access to white papers, and reports, including information from the Annual General Meeting, and special agreements with affiliate organizations. You should have already received an invitation to follow the blog, however if you need further assistance please e-mail Ms. Morehouse as noted below.
We hope that these new communication tools will help keep us a more connected membership, and encourage engagement. As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas for blog content, we want to hear from you. Our Social Media Specialist, Ms. Alycia Morehouse, can be reached at [email protected].

Leadership in Action - iLead Leadership Development Program
A unique program, designed in partnership with Royal Roads University specifically for leaders in the municipal sector, has resulted in the Capital Regional District (CRD) on the southern part of Vancouver Island, BC having the leadership needed to deal with the challenges facing municipal organizations today.
The iLead Leadership Development Program (iLead) was developed as part of a strategic priority of Organizational Effectiveness for CRD. “iLead” is a comprehensive nine day interactive program focused on enhancing leadership capacity and aligning CRD leaders with a common set of leadership competencies.
While focusing on both individual and collective leadership strengths, participants are immersed in a Leadership Challenge which actively applies their learning to real life workplace challenges.
Launched in January 2009, seventy-three (73) of the CRD’s current and up-and-coming managers have participated in the program. The feedback has been extraordinary. In the municipal organization’s most recent employee survey, employee satisfaction with the leadership had increased eleven per cent (11%) in 18 months.
The success of "iLead" now extends beyond the Capital Regional District. Based on CRD’s "iLead" program, Royal Roads University is now broadening its leadership initiatives with all public sector leadership in mind.
Specifically focusing on the unique leadership challenges facing public sector leaders, an accredited program is being developed which provides municipal leaders opportunities to connect, share and learn together and collaborate on solving real issues that impact municipalities across the province and country.
The Capital Regional District, Victoria believes that investing in leadership and developing strong leaders is paramount to their organization’s continued successes. The "iLead Leadership Development Program" has proven to be a fundamental component of the exciting present and key to a vibrant future.
Congratulations to the Capital Regional District on this outstanding achievement!
