Conference Registration for Members in Transition:
Going in to “transition” is a very difficult situation that all too many members face at some point in their local government careers.  Any job change is difficult, but when its forced on someone for reasons that often have nothing to do with their job performance it can be traumatic.  If you are a “Member in Transition” and have been fired or forced to resign your position in local government and are now “in transition”, CAMA will provide a complimentary registration for you.   Hotel and travel expenses are at your cost.  Register under the “Members In Transition” category on-line, but CAMA’s membership department must have been notified of your status for you to use this option.

City of Surrey Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP)
Surrey’s commitment toward environmental stewardship is embodied in the Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP). The program is a student-based initiative promoting watershed stewardship and habitat enhancement within the City of Surrey.

Surrey’s dramatic growth and development has the potential to add stress to the city’s 1500 kilometres of waterways and without dedicated care this important habitat for salmonids and other species can degrade over time. Since 1996, SHaRP has employed over 600 post-secondary and secondary students that have worked to protect and increase the awareness of the importance of urban streams for indigenous fish species. The student effort exerted since the program inception directly translates to the enhancement of over 2000 riparian and instream sites within the City of Surrey.

The program is designed to blend the City’s need to maintain and improve compensation habitats installed through the capital infrastructure program and to leverage these opportunities to deliver career-orientated experiences to local youth. This replicable student model creates a sustainable funding source to be able to deliver the program in perpetuity, and to achieve altruistic goals as well as operational efficiency.

The City of Richmond’s Digital Strategy is a multi-phase strategy encompassing a broad array of initiatives aimed at extending the reach of online services and integrating systems in order to improve customer service and efficiency. A foundational initiative of this strategy was the implementation of a Digital Nervous Ecosystem (middleware) in 2016 which provides integration capabilities between the City’s business systems while also enabling those same systems with new capabilities, namely application programming interfaces.     Through this innovation, the City has launched new services, both for external customers as well as for Staff
