We are very pleased to have had an overwhelming response to the 2018 CAMA Conference and the room blocks for the Hilton Garden Inn and the Crowne Plaza are SOLD OUT.
There are still rooms available at the Delta Fredericton Hotel. Only a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive from the Convention Centre. Shuttle service will be provided during the peak times.
Instructions for Booking
- Contact the Reservations Department at 1-888-890-3222 or 506-457-7000 and identify yourself as attending the CAMA Conference.
- Reservations can also be made on-line using this link.
- Riverview Guest rooms are also available for $209.00/night.
- Club Guest Rooms are also available for $239.00/night.
- The room block will be open until February 13, 2018.
A deposit equal to the first night's stay will be charged at the time of booking. If the reservation is cancelled by April 26th, 2018 the deposit will be refunded. If it is cancelled after April 26th, 2018 the first night’s deposit will be forfeited.

Membership Renewals for 2018-2019 Year
The CAMA membership renewal invoices were mailed out last week and are due by March 31st, 2018. You can renew your membership online by Visa or Mastercard using your CAMA ID number (noted on your invoice) at http://www.civicinfo.bc.ca/cama/membership.asp or by sending a cheque to the CAMA National Office. We look forward to your continued membership with CAMA! Please note that you will require your membership e-mail address to register on-line for the 2018 Conference.
Alberta Members: Summer Temporary Employment Program Steps up
The Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP) is back and now accepting applications from eligible employers interested in hiring students into summer jobs from May to August. Eligible employers will get a $7-per-hour wage subsidy from the province with the rest provided by the host municipality. Municipalities qualify for between two and forty positions depending on their size and scope of work. More information, including eligibility criteria, application process, and FAQs can be found on the Government of Alberta website. Application deadline is February 9, 2018.

The City of Bathurst Climate Change Adaptation Plan
Coastal New Brunswick is increasingly susceptible to the effects of sea level rise and storm surge events related to our changing climate. Without contingency plans for such events and the implementation of adaptation measures to mitigate them, parts of the City of Bathurst could be in jeopardy when they occur. The City needs to be ready for them.
The City of Bathurst, located in northern New Brunswick along Chaleur Bay, has over 12,275 residents, with approximately 6,257 dwellings and occupies approximately 92 km2. The City is officially bilingual, with over 60% of the population speaking both languages. Pabineau First Nation (Kekwapskuk) is part of the Chaleur region. Bathurst was a service and trade centre during the nineteenth century, with shipbuilding as an important economic activity. The first pulp and paper mill was built in 1914 (Bathurst Power and Paper Company Ltd.), and the industry was the main economic driver during the first half of the century, followed by mining. Mining gradually replaced pulp and paper in the 1960s as the major industry, and continues to influence the local economy. Tourism has become the focus of local economic development today.
