CAMA Conference Set To Begin in Winnipeg
More than 210 chief administrative officers and senior staff members from municipalities across Canada will be heading to Winnipeg, MB from May 30 – June 1, 2016 for the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) national conference.

Built around the theme of “The Resiliency of the CAO,” conference delegates will experience inspiring keynote speakers, exceptional networking opportunities, an interactive tradeshow featuring products and services of interest to municipalities, and study tours.  The conference will serve as an opportunity to launch CAMA’s CAO Performance Evaluation Toolkit and the association’s new Strategic Plan.

The first day of the conference includes the ever-popular CAMA golf tournament, local tours, provincial/territorial association meetings, a women’s social, a first-time delegates’ reception, and an opening reception in the tradeshow area.

Day two starts with CAMA’s annual general meeting, followed by the opening keynote from Jim Ludlow, President, True North Development talking about “The Resiliency of a Community.”  This will be followed by a plenary session introducing CAMA’s CAO Performance Evaluation Toolkit.

Following the Long Service Awards Luncheon, delegates will get to choose between several concurrent sessions, including:

• “Brain Wellness – The Secrets for Longevity”,
• “The Role of Local Government in a Sustainable World”,
• A “Retired CAO Panel”, and
• “Ideas that Worked – Rapid Fire Innovation”.

The third day of the conference kicks off with two plenary sessions:  “The Emotional Resilience of Managers:  Surviving the Slings and Arrows of Outrageous Fortune” and “The Next Big Things: Are You Future Ready? and CAMA’s Future”.  The morning ends with the conference closing keynote by Ryan Walter called “Leading the SHIFT”.

The CAMA Awards of Excellence will be presented at noon.  This will be followed by the closing ceremonies and then delegates are invited to take part in one of three study tours to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Downtown Winnipeg’s Innovative Projects or Historic St. Boniface.  The conference ends with the President’s reception, where CAMA’s Life Member will be honoured, and the President’s dinner.
