Additional tickets to the Casual Night Out ($115.00) and the President’s Dinner ($125.00) can be purchased for companions not participating in the full Companion Program.
An additional fee of $25.00 (+ $3.00 HST) will be charged for the Study Tours.
The registration fee for Retired Members and Municipal Interns includes all Conference sessions, a complimentary delegate gift, Tradeshow, Opening Reception, breakfasts, refreshment breaks, Casual Night Out at the Royal BC Museum and a “Taste of Victoria”, and the Hospitality Suites. At an additional cost, tickets can be purchased to the lunches ($35.00), the Study Tours ($25.00), and the President’s Dinner ($125.00).

QUEEN ELIZABETH II DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL RECIPIENTS
A new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. CAMA is pleased to recognize recipients from our member community.
Over the next several months, we will be featuring our members that received this prestigious award.
Gerard Lewis, Retired and Honourary Life Member, Mount Pearl, NL

Gerard began his municipal career in 1984 as the Town Clerk/Comptroller with the Town of Gander. In 1989 he took the position of City Clerk and Assistant Manager with the City of Mount Pearl. In 2003 he was appointed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Mount Pearl, a position he retired from on April 15, 2011.
He obtained a Certificate in Municipal Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN); an Advanced Certificate in Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution from St. Mary’s University of Nova Scotia; a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation and the first municipal official in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) to obtain a Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC); graduated from the Local Government Leadership, Coaches and Mentors Program of the Local Government Leadership (LGL) Institute; and graduated with a National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA) from the University of Alberta and Dalhousie University of Nova Scotia.
He served on numerous committees and organizations through his career, including President of the Municipal Training and Development Corporation (MTDC) of NL; President of Trio (the Newfoundland and Labrador Municipal Employee Benefits, Inc. the provider of pension and group benefits to municipal staff and elected officials of NL); trainer with the Local Government Leadership (LGL) Institute with training provided for local government officials throughout NL, Canada and the Philippines; Director, Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Professional Municipal Administrators (PMA) of NL; Director of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA); and served on numerous provincial and national committees including the Municipal Grants Review Committee, Municipal Elections Act Review Committee, Municipalities Act Review Committee, Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)/CAMA Task Force on the Future Role of Municipal Government and the Municipal Financial Management Training Design Committee.
He served as an Advisory Committee Member to the Conference Board of Canada Supporting Workplace Health project and presented at the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IIPAC) Pride and Recognition Workshop. He assisted in the design and production of the Municipal Government …”the Right Approach” series of seminars and was also a seminar leader for this series of seminars throughout NL, as well as a number of other seminars on behalf of the Department of Municipal Affairs, PMA and Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL). He assisted in the development and delivery of the Local Government Management CORE Certificate Program with the College of the North Atlantic in partnership with MTDC.
In April of 2012 he was awarded Honourary Membership by PMA, and in May of 2012 he was awarded Honourary Life Membership by CAMA. During his acceptance of the Diamond Jubilee Medal he acknowledged the many benefits of CAMA and its contribution to his career. He also acknowledged the support provided by the City of Mount Pearl in his pursuit of lifelong learning.
Since retiring he and Keith Warren, a former municipal administrator and Director of Local Government for the province of NL, formed LW Consulting, a consulting company specializing in the municipal field with a primary focus on the professional development of appointed and elected officials within NL. He also loves golfing and spending quality time with his four grandchildren.
Jim King, Chief Administrative Officer, City of Cambridge, ON

Jim King, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), is responsible to City Council for the general management of the civic administration and the conduct of the business affairs of the Corporation. The City's Management Committee (Department Heads and the Mayor), which is chaired by the CAO, is responsible for making recommendations to City Council with respect to the formulation, analysis and implementation of policies and programs. The Chief Administrative Officer has specific responsibilities in respect of financial, personnel and property matters.
Mr. King has extensive knowledge of the corporation and has served the City for over three decades. Since 1976, his roles have given him a variety of high level experience in a multitude of departments. Most recently, Commissioner of Community Services, Mr. King directed one of the City's largest departments. He recently led the Leisure Services and Facilities Master Plan update which sets the direction for the corporation over the next 20 years. A graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts, Mr. King holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
Active in the community, Mr. King was a member of the Society of Directors of Municipal Recreation of Ontario; the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association; and the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators where he served as President in 1984/85. He is past Chair of the Cambridge/North Dumfries United Way fundraising campaign and has also served as a Member of the Board for the Cambridge Y.M.C.A and Can-Amera Games.
