ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 1,750 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. Active in 100+ countries, we influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability. The diversity of ICLEI’s work is best described in three simple phrases: connecting leaders, accelerating action and a gateway to solutions.
  • As an association we connect and foster leadership by bringing together urban sustainability professionals for shared learning, inspiration and collaboration.
  • As a movement we accelerate action by running programs and campaigns that help local governments advance their sustainability activities and achieve meaningful results.
  • As an agency we provide a gateway to solutions specifically for local government practitioners; via a wide variety of innovative tools, targeted resources, and fruitful partnerships.
Our Canadian offices are located in Toronto, ON, Victoria, BC, and Montreal, QC. We work with local governments from coast to coast to coast and prioritize the collaborative co-development of climate change actions that involve a wide range of community stakeholders.
