Burnaby City Employees Receive United Way AwardCity of Burnaby
BURNABY - The City of Burnaby and CUPE Local 23 (Burnaby Civic Employees) were awarded the 2018 United Way Community Spirit Award in the “Growth” category on April 23.
This award is given annually to communities in recognition of their work in increasing the number of donors and dollars to help United Way deliver crucial programs and services.
“I’d like to thank city employees for their contributions - whether time or money or both - to the United Way campaign and showing to everyone that the City is a caring organization and what we are capable of,” said City Manager Lambert Chu. “This is another example of great team work and commitment to creating a thriving organization and helping people in need in our communities.”
In 2018, the City of Burnaby and CUPE 23 raised $130,000 for the United Way of the Lower Mainland. City staff have fundraised for United Way for more than 25 years, raising more than $1.75 million over that time.
