Management Training Academy (Records and Information Management)

First Nations Public Service Secretariat
The purpose of the Information Management Bootcamp is to provide action focused training so that participants will return to their organizations with strategies and priorities for getting their information under control. The term “Information management”, also referred to as “records and Information management” covers the activities that are undertaken to find, organize, use, retain and preserve the organization’s various information resources. Such resources include paper and electronic records, maps, drawings, reports and studies, photographs, websites, videos and any other materials containing information used by the staff.

During the two-day workshop, participants will review day-to-day records and information management program elements. “Hands on” reviews of information capture and control, filing systems, including classification, retention schedules, security issues and control systems will be completed. In addition, participants will look at specific requirements for organizing electronic records. Together, participants will develop a strategy, plan and budget guidelines for the establishment and operation of a records and information management program in their respective organizations.
