Cost: All Beginner workshops will run from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon and all Advanced workshops will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost: $95 + HST per workshop or $170 + HST for both workshops if taken on the same day. (includes refreshment breaks- Note: Lunch not included with either session).
Payment Methods: Visa and MasterCard payments will be accepted with your online registration.

Cancellation: Requests for refunds/cancellations will be accepted up to September 29th, subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. No refunds after September 29th. Attendance is transferable.

FOI for Beginners: What FOI Heads and Coordinators Need to Know About FOI and Privacy
This introductory session to FOI is geared to provide FOI Heads and Coordinators with a basic introduction to the core components of the legislation. Topics covered include how to respond to public requests for information and what is appropriate for you to disclose to the public, in particular with respect to privacy. The presenters will use case studies to illustrate "best practices" for FOI Heads and Coordinators when dealing with information requests from the public, and point out some of the more common pitfalls that staff may encounter.

No prior knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is required for this session. This session is similar to FOI Beginner Workshops conducted previously by the LGMA.

Advanced FOI: What FOI Heads, and Coordinators Need to Know about FOI and Privacy
This session is aimed at experienced FOI Heads and Coordinators who are looking to enhance their knowledge of administering the legislation. The presenters will deliver case studies on some complex access requests and privacy issues and requirements as well as an update on current hot topics in FOIPPA administration. The session will conclude with a “round table” discussion.

Prior knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is required for this session. This session will be different from FOI Advanced Workshops conducted previously by the LGMA.
