NOW
AVAILABLE
The Local Government Management Association
is now accepting orders for its new “Human Resource
Toolkit for Local Government Organizations”.
This toolkit was inspired by the thought that smaller local
governments could benefit by the availability of a publication
that covers best practices in Human Resources Management and
that such a toolkit would be so much the better if it contained
solutions to many of the problems that end up on the desk
of the chief administrator who doesn’t have regular
access to an HR professional.
Developed by an LGMA committee of human resource professionals
in consultation with local government managers and legal reviewers,
the toolkit consists of nine chapters with a number of sections
to address a series of subjects within the chapter. The first
part of each section includes an overview - supplemented with
sample letters and other documents – on a subject. The
second part is a sample policy statement. These sample statements
can be modified to fit local circumstances and used to create
a corporate HR Policy Manual. The detailed table of contents
for the toolkit may be found on the LGMA website at www.lgma.ca.
As a “work in progress”, the toolkit will be periodically
updated as case law and feedback is received. Purchasers of
the first edition of the toolkit will also receive the first
update at no extra charge.
The 241 page toolkit will be available in a printed binder
version which will include PDF and Microsoft Word files on
a CD Rom. As well, a CD Rom version only version will be available.
Orders received by December 1, 2010 will be delivered by December
31, 2010.
