Job Description
The City of Port Moody is seeking an innovative and organized Accounts Payable Clerk with sound business and financial skills to carry out a wide range of computer based accounts payable functions.  The successful candidate will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts reconciliations, and will assist with the year-end audit.  This position will also provide support to the Tax and Utility departments, and will provide assistance with other financial tasks.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to establish positive working relationships. 

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Clerk ensures that accounts payable processes flow smoothly and accurately and vendors are paid on time; balances reports; and calculates provincial and federal service taxes.

This position will:

  • Scan and register invoices
  • Post approved invoices for payment
  • Verify accuracy and proper authorizations 
  • Process manual invoice batches and cheque runs 
  • Perform tax calculations 
  • Run reports and assist with accounts payable reconciliations
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed
  • Maintains accounts payable vendor files
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements Rec


  • Secondary school graduation (Grade 12) 
  • Six months to one year of basic and computerized accounting courses covering the complete accounting cycle
  • One to two years of job related experience 
  • Accounts payable knowledge and demonstrated accuracy
  • Experience with general accounting procedures
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
