Director of Leisure Services


The City of Terrace is seeking a highly motivated individual able to provide dynamic direction to recreation, sport and culture in the City! As Director of Leisure Services you will have the opportunity to work in our recently renewed Aquatic Centre and twin arena Sportsplex, lead the ongoing rejuvenation of our existing robust park and trail systems and plan for new parks and trails infrastructure, and oversee the administration, planning, and future development of our two municipal cemeteries. We are looking to round out our team with someone who brings these qualities and abilities to the table:

  • Management experience including a good understanding of Collective Agreements;
  • Ability to manage and oversee a large number of staff at our different recreational facilities;
  • Broad understanding of arena and pool operations;
  • Innovative thinking, creative problem solving, superior team-building and visionary leadership abilities;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Ability to facilitate partnerships and work on community projects with clubs and associations;
  • Ability to budget and maintain financial control over Department operations;
  • Relevant educational background and experience is an asset.


This is an exempt position reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer with a 35-hour work week and offers an excellent benefits package. Given the nature of the position flexible working hours will occasionally be required. The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
