The City of Maple Ridge is accepting applications for the temporary full time position of Aquatics Programmer. You will be leading a large group of staff in the delivery of exceptional swim programs both at the Leisure Centre and seasonally at the outdoor pool. At times you’ll be on deck mentoring and supporting our staff team, in the water teaching and leading in-service training or in the filter room, conducting a pool reading. The aquatic programmer position is an administrative role, however in aquatics it’s not unusual to require ‘all hands on deck,” and the successful applicant must be a versatile team player.
This position is especially exciting as the successful candidate will have a key leadership role in recruitment and training of new lifeguard/instructors.Applicants must have substantial and preferably varied aquatics experiences and have the following education and current certifications:
Completion of a post-secondary program in Recreation or related field at a recognized institution and sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Aquatics programming experience
- Top of Form
- Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
- National Lifeguard Pool Certificate.
- Lifesaving Instructor Certificate.
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certificate or National Lifeguard Instructor Certificate.
- Standard First Aid.
- CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate.
- Pool Operator Level I Certificate
The hours of this position include weekends, statutory holidays, as well as early morning and late evening shifts. This is a temporary full-time position for approximately eighteen (18) months. This term may be shortened or extended due to circumstances unforeseen at the time of posting.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
