Located on southern Vancouver Island in one of the most desirable regions of British Columbia, the Town of Ladysmith is seeking a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

This is an excellent career opportunity for a CAO, or an experienced senior local government manager, who is interested in taking on the next challenge in their career and assuming the role of principal advisor to a progressive municipal council as well as leadership of a dedicated staff team.
The Town is seeking an energetic and committed individual who can balance the achievement of council’s strategic priorities with efficient, and cost-effective day-to-day operational management. A strong commitment to, and active participation in the community will be considered essential. The preferred candidate will be a person who believes in leading by example; who is a skilled communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills; is an experienced collaborator with a demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships; and who is someone who can adapt and innovate in a fast- paced, responsive and customer service-oriented work environment.
The ideal candidate will have generalist experience and skills in a variety of local government responsibilities, combined with professional certification in local government or a degree in public or business administration. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a BC local government management capacity is preferred.
