IT Support Technician
Permanent Full Time Position
The Saanich Police Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide first point of contact for all IT related issues within the Saanich Police Department. The duties include triaging requests, documenting user issues, as well as to provide desk side support for users including software installation and configuration. The IT Support Technician will be the primary position responsible for user account management, password resets, and user Move, Add, Change (MAC) activities and the incumbent is expected to be able to provide assistance in the areas of application, desktop, and internet support.
Requirements include: diploma in the field of Computer Sciences or Information Technology, two years of experience in helpdesk support, customer service or customer support role, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. Current industry certifications related to the functional areas of support and ITIL Foundations certification would be an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Due to the duties of the position any potential applicants will be required to pass enhanced reliability screening, which will include an extensive background check and polygraph while employed with the Department.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As a component of the selection process, technical testing will be conducted prior to interviews.
