This is clerical work of some variety and complexity involving responding to enquiries regarding traffic violation notices and taking and dispatching complaints of traffic violations. An incumbent responds to enquiries from the public regarding traffic violation notices and non-payment notices; explains reason for the issuance, policies and by-laws, payment structures, the dispute process and related matters; verifies claims of erroneous charges and arranges for correction; organizes, prepares and processes documents related to adjudication hearings; informs by-law enforcement officer and forwards documentation to superior and adjudicator; reviews violation notices prepared by by-law enforcement officers and R.C.M.P. members for completeness and accuracy; verifies license plate numbers and the amount of fines; maintains and updates a variety of files and records related to the work; searches files to obtain and verify information; composes routine correspondence and compiles statistics as required; types a variety of materials related to the work. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of the twelfth school grade, including or supplemented by commercial courses plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, by-laws, rules and regulations as they relate to the work performed; of modern office methods and procedures and business English, spelling, arithmetic and punctuation. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff and external agencies in providing information and explaining procedures, by-laws, rules and regulations related to the work performed; to make decisions in accordance with applicable rules, policies and procedures and to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision; to assign and oversee the work of one or more auxiliary employees performing routine clerical tasks. Skill in the use of a computer software and standard office applications.
