Certified Carpenter

Temporary Full Time Position
(Up to 2 years or return of the incumbent)

The District of Saanich is seeking a Certified Carpenter for trades work requiring proficiency and a high degree of competence in constructing and maintaining municipal infrastructure. The successful candidate will prepare and review drawings, written estimates and quantities; direct and train tradespersons and other staff; repair, maintain and construct above and underground infrastructure such as bridges, barriers, manholes, chambers, vaults and concrete curb/gutter and sidewalk. Carries out other related tasks such as framing, forming, placing/finishing concrete, installing furnishing, culvert structures, and other work as required.

Requirements include minimum grade 12 or equivalent; Certificate of Qualification and Certificate of Apprenticeship in Carpentry; four years of field experience including the Apprenticeship experience and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $34.99 per hour plus benefits.
