Business Applications Specialist

The Strategic and Corporate Services Department – Information Technology Division is looking for a temporary full-time Business Applications Specialist for approximately 2 years.
Reporting to the Manager, Application and GIS Services, you will be involved with all phases of business applications configuration, procedure documentation and operation related to business systems for various City departments. As part of a high energy, well accomplished team, you will assist with analyzing and documenting business applications and systems requirements, support the internal and external design teams in developing technical solutions, perform data evaluation and analysis, and prepare data test scenarios in training environments. You will also assist with creating and delivering training materials, including in-class training.
The IT team has a culture of listening, learning, empowerment and collaboration. You will be a team player with proven communication skills and proactive approach to supporting the City’s IT applications and users; you are invigorated by the pace of change in technology and excited by the innovation it enables. You have a post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (eg. computer science, business administration, public administration) and considerable related analysis experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will also have strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations in group settings. Knowledge of Agile software development methodology and enterprise/workflow management systems, would be an asset.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
$36.45 to $43.04 per hour
(Pay Grade 24 – January 2019 rates)
Hours of Work:
Any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and may also be scheduled for a regular shift on Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., exclusive of meal breaks. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
