Manager, Area Planning & Development

Reporting to the General Manager, Planning & Development, the Manager, Area Planning & Development performs supervisory and administrative work relating to the direction of expeditious, yet comprehensive, processing of high volume of land development applications for the City of Surrey. The Manager leads a team of professional and technical planning staff providing technical knowledge and creativity to find solutions to various issues.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Planning or related discipline; a Master’s in Planning is preferred. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the planning profession, preferably in the municipal government sector and a minimum of 5 years’ management or supervisory experience, directly related to the position. The role requires excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. The preferred candidate will be a member or be eligible to fulfill the requirements for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners; a valid BC driver’s license is required.
