An exciting and challenging opportunity exists for multiple Temporary, Full-Time ECOSmart Team Members with the City of Kamloops! We are seeking post-secondary students who have a passion for environmental sustainability and waste reduction. If you are enthusiastic about conducting public education and engagement, and possess dynamic communication skills, we invite you to join our ECOSmart Team. We have multiple summer positions for those who have the flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, mornings or evenings.
Typical duties of this position include:
- Assisting with organizing and preparing public presentations for use in schools, malls, parks, radio, television, and City-sponsored events throughout the work term.
- Speaking to Kamloops residents to encourage and promote awareness of effective water usage, waste reduction, and other actions to address climate change.
- Assisting with conducting residential and corporate waste audits to support the zero waste initiative.
- Assisting in recycling cart/bin inspections, and related processes.
- Attending public functions to display and distribute educational material.
The successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.
Please note that these are temporary positions from approximately May 4, 2020 to September 3, 2020. These positions fall under the Student Hires Letter of Understanding, for more details please review the attached LOU. These positions will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time.
