We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Director of Parks and Facilities. The ideal candidate must have a highly positive and professional demeanor, be a self-starting, problem solving individual with strong attention to detail and a drive for customer service and teamwork.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the General Manager Parks, Recreation & Culture. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the maintenance of the City’s facilities and parks. There are three Managers who report to this position who are responsible for supervising the work of employees and contractors engaged in parks and cemetery design, maintenance, repair and construction; and, the development and maintenance of life cycle programs,
preventative maintenance programs for parks, recreation facilities and government properties.
The work also involves preparing department business plans, operating and capital budgets; maintaining control of expenditures; representing the department and liaising with various internal and external contacts; completing research and preparing policy recommendations for consideration by Council.
University graduation in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline; plus considerable experience involving park and facility planning within the parks and recreation field OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
