Assistant Engineering Services Technician
(8 month Temporary Full-Time)

We currently have a temporary full-time opening for an Assistant Engineering Services Technician (Engineering Coop Student) to work as part of our Project Delivery Office. We are ideally looking to fill this as an 8-12 month term, but for the right candidate we would consider a 4-month term as well.
You will be involved in technical engineering and administration work for the project management and coordination of the delivery of municipal engineering infrastructure projects. Duties include budget tracking, schedule monitoring, quantity takeoffs, payment verification, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement, including site meetings, inspections, private property agreements and associated correspondence. Tasks may also include developing data sets to assist with estimating, assisting with developing policies and guidelines for other initiatives, and construction technical support for bridges, water, sanitary and storm systems, roads, sidewalks and other utilities. Related work could include project planning, design support, and contract preparation for terms of references or construction tender documents.
Preferred candidates will be nearing completion of a civil engineering degree program or have recently completed a technical diploma. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Familiarity with municipal design principles, standards and practices, including the Master Municipal Contract Document, is required, along with a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
May 1, 2020 – December 18, 2020
$28.55-$33.60 per hour (2019 rates), Union position.
Hours of Work:
Mon-Fri, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
