We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to join our Parks, Recreation & Culture team in the Sport Services division.  In this role, you will be responsible for tasks of a supervisory, technical and administrative nature concerned with coordinating, developing, planning, assigning and reviewing the work of skilled and semi-skilled staff engaged in the installation, maintenance and renovation of sports fields, turf areas and irrigation systems.  This role coordinates, plans, implements and evaluates projects and maintenance programs, develops and reviews annual work plans and ensures conformance to specifications, standards, budgets and safety regulations. Considerable independent action and judgement are exercised in the work while unusual or policy matters are discussed with a superior who reviews performance for effectiveness and conformance with established guidelines and standards.

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned professional who has completed an undergraduate degree, diploma or trades certification in horticulture, turf management, park management or related disciplines, with accredited courses in project management, leadership and human resources plus considerable related experience involved in a full range of design, maintenance, installation/construction and customer service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia, an Integrated Pest Management Certificate or Pesticide Applicator Certificate as well as certification as an Irrigation Technician – Level 1 is required.

A CUPE hourly rate of $40.35-47.69, plus a comprehensive benefits package as well as a compressed work week is being offered. Applicants under consideration may be required to consent to a Police Information Check.  Please attach a recent driver’s abstract (within 30 days) to your application.
