Reporting to the Manager, Records Management, this is supervisory and specialised clerical work of a technical legal nature in coordinating the operations of the Quality Assurance and Watch Clerk sections at the RCMP Detachment. The incumbent plans, reviews and supervises the work of a moderate sized group of subordinates performing quality review of files; reads “sensitive” instance files for investigational content, quality, accuracy and completeness; develops audit standards and implements quality assurance reviews to ensure that Detachment records are maintained and reviewed in accordance with established rules, regulations and policies; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; works under general supervision and exercises considerable independent judgement and action within departmental policies and procedures. Policy and unusual problems are discussed with a superior who evaluates work. Performs related work as required.
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related experience in a police environment, and preferably supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Thorough knowledge of investigational procedures and evidentiary requirements in conducting police investigations, the Criminal Code of Canada and other applicable Federal and Provincial statutes enforced by the RCMP, the criminal justice systems, court procedures, methods, principles and practices used in the operation of PRIME, PIRS and CPIC systesms and UCR scoring. Training, courses and experience with CCJS, scoring and release of information are considered assets. Ability to make decisions in light of established precedence and resourcefulness in meeting new problems, maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, explain and interpret departmental rules and regulations, prepare and present statistical and narrative reports. Must obtain and maintain an RCMP top secret security clearance.
