We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the City of Burnaby's Human Resources senior leadership team.  Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will foster an ongoing environment of positive employee and labour relations at the City.  This critical role is accountable for the administration, guidance and interpretation of collective agreements, including handling of grievance and arbitration procedures.  You will lead a team in providing a full spectrum of informal and formal employee and labour relations activities including providing advice and guidance to all City staff.  You will participate In Labour Management and Collective Bargaining activities and lead staff involved in a variety of programs including attendance management.

With a strong human resource and labour relations background, you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated problem solving and dispute resolution skills and ability.   In this leadership role, you will be expected to establish and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with all levels of staff and union representatives.  Your ability to analyze and interpret information, write reports and business correspondence and to effectively present information are keys to success in this position.

As a key member of the Human Resources team, a solid understanding of best practices, trends and legislation in all disciplines of Human Resources is essential.

Qualifications include a university degree in Human Resource Management, Business or equivalent combined with a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior labour relations role, preferably in the public sector.  A CPHR designation is preferred.
