Engineering Technician I

The City of Trail is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent full-time position of Engineering Technician I.
Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for the performance of duties specifically related to the organization and coordination of work carried out by the Engineering Department. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the overall Public Works operation and maintenance of Roads, Parks, Cemetery, Utilities and Facilities and providing Public Works with engineering services on City infrastructure, underground utilities and above-ground structures. The incumbent will be able to work with little supervision and will be expected to exercise considerable independent judgment.
Qualifications for this position include:
Must hold a diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology in the discipline of Civil Engineering Technology (Municipal option preferred), and be registered, or eligible for registration within 18 months of commencing employment, as an AScT (or equivalent) with the ASTTBC.
Must have advanced skills in GIS applications specific to ESRI software (ArcMap, ArcView, ArcInfo, or ArcGIS). AutoCAD infrastructure modeling and engineering design considered to be an asset.
Must have an excellent working knowledge in spreadsheet, word processing and database programs (MS Office environment), and in computer file organization and storage, and in computer hardware, printers and networks.

This position is within the CUPE Local 2087 Bargaining Unit. Wages and benefits are as per the Collective Agreement.
