District of Stewart: Situated across from Alaska's Misty Fiords National Park and at the end of the Portland Canal, Stewart, BC is a unique border town attracting tourists from every corner of the world.
Located in the “Golden Triangle” the economy of Stewart is supported by a varied range of industries including mining and mine exploration, logging, and tourism. A deep-water port with two port facilities it is destined to become a major west coast port for distribution of ore, logs and other commodities.

The District of Stewart is seeking a full time Safety/Bylaw Enforcement Officer (SBEO). Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the SBEO develops, coordinates and oversees delivery of the District’s Occupational Health & Safety Program; including policy, procedures, training and records management. The SBEO arranges for or performs Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits and affects bylaw enforcement up to adjudication.

Required Experience & Qualifications:
  • High School (Grade 12) as well as 2 year post secondary Diploma related to Occupational Health & Safety and BCMSA (COR) Internal Auditor Certification
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • Completion of a bylaw compliance, enforcement & investigative skills course
  • Updated knowledge of computerized systems, administrative systems & office technology
  • 2 years of related experience in both WorksafeBC regulations and bylaw enforcement duties
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Hours of Work:
35 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 with the flexibility and availability to work days, evenings and weekends as operationally required. Salary compensation commensurate on experience. A comprehensive benefits package is offered with this position.
