Bylaw Enforcement Officer

(1 Position – Full-Time)

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting applications for a full-time experienced Bylaw Enforcement Officer position based out of its Salmon Arm, BC office.

Under the general direction of the Team Leader, Building and Bylaw Services, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer receives complaints and investigates and seeks resolution to a variety of land use, zoning, restrictive covenant and other CSRD regulatory issues where the CSRD has been made aware of non-compliance with the terms and conditions of those regulations.

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer works closely with the general public, CSRD staff, elected officials, agencies, solicitors and other professionals in performing enforcement work toward the public’s compliance with bylaws and regulations.

Education, Training, Experience and Certification Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by completion of courses related to Bylaw Enforcement
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in investigation and/or law enforcement work, preferably in a unionized, local government environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License

This is a full-time position and is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement negotiated between the CSRD and CUPE Local 1908. The salary range for the Bylaw Enforcement Officer is $2,449.87 to $2,762.24 bi-weekly (July 2019 rates) with an attractive benefit package. Typical hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. (Option to work an additional half hour and participate in flex schedule.)
