Clerk II – Committee Clerk

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a regular, full-time Committee Clerk/Recording Secretary to join our Legislative Services team to provide support to the City’s various advisory committees. This role entails complex and diversified legislative clerical work requiring considerable knowledge of local government, role of committees, city functions, procedures and policies, that will enable you to successfully assist in the operation and governance of committee activities of the City.  We are seeking a politically astute individual with the ability to exercise considerable independent judgement and skills necessary to carry out non-technical projects.

The successful candidate will be extremely detail oriented and capable of high levels of accuracy. Duties will include assisting with various City Committees, which may include agenda tracking and preparation; recording, editing and distributing minutes; posting material for public viewing on the website; coordination of the annual recruitment process for committees; and other administrative tasks related to committee work.

This role also assists with the maintenance of the City’s paper and electronic records management system, including ensuring that established policies and procedures related to best practices are followed, and providing related training and assistance to City staff. This role will also assist the FOI Coordinator with the compilation of records under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This position requires exceptionally strong administrative and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will have high school graduation supplemented by courses in modern office procedures and software applications, plus considerable related experience in a municipal legislative services department or other legal environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a regular Monday – Friday position (7 hours per day), and will require the flexibility to take minutes at evening meetings, 3-4 times per month. A valid BC driver’s license is required.

This is a full time CUPE position with a starting salary of $27.31per hour, plus benefits.
