The Police Administration Department requires a regular full-time Communications Strategist to work at the North Vancouver RCMP Detachment. You will develop and implement a variety of communications plans; coordinate content, design, production and dissemination of promotional materials, advertising and media messages; and research, write, proofread and edit a variety of materials. Some responsibilities include: annual communications strategy, media relations strategy, community outreach strategies, community engagement projects, news releases, social media postings, photo opportunities and events coordination. You will also assist with the maintenance, content and enhancements of the North Vancouver RCMP website and social media channels.
You will liaise with the City and District of North Vancouver’s communications departments, have a presence on community committees as needed, and provide advice and guidance to senior detachment management on corporate communications and issue management. This will include communications related emergency preparedness and planning information.
You are current on the latest trends in social media and digital communication and their application to the City’s communications platforms as well as solid writing skills for those platforms. You also have considerable knowledge of graphic arts, photography, print production and technical aspects of website and social media maintenance, news and advertising media. You have a degree or diploma in communications or media relations plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a policing or municipal environment.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
$37.97 to $44.83 per hour
(Pay Grade 25, January 2019 rates)
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
