West Vancouver Transit (Blue Bus) has openings for Permanent Full-time Transit Mechanics and apprentices.
The successful candidate for this position is required to have and retain the following certifications: Interprovincial or British Columbia Certificate of Qualification in Truck and Transport, or Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanics; and, Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate; and, Class 1, 2 or 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement.
Candidates who have not yet achieved but have interest in obtaining the above qualifications and certifications are encouraged to apply. Candidates under the following circumstances may be considered:
- Heavy Duty/ Truck and Transport Apprentices
- Automotive TQ’s looking to obtain a Truck and Transport TQ
- Candidates who have not yet acquired a Class 1, 2 or 3 Drivers License with Air Brake endorsement
- Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate
This is Truck and Transport mechanical work at the journeyman level, involving overhaul, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in the shop or in the field. The preferred candidate will possess current knowledge of Electronic diesel engines and transmissions. This position involves shift work. A minimum of five years' relevant experience is preferred and possession of own hand tools is a must. HVAC experience is considered an asset. During the assessment process, successful candidates will be required to submit an acceptable Driver’s Abstract and Claims History from ICBC. The successful candidate will be required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.

Union (ATU)– Permanent Full-Time
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary) 4 days on / 3 consecutive days off (consistent workweek and schedule)
Rate of Pay:
$37.58 per hour (Plus $1.50 Recruitment and Retention Allowance per hour worked. Plus $0.80 per hour tool allowance – apprentices without a TQ begin at 70% of the journeyman rate) Plus: $1.65/hr shift differential for afternoon shifts and Sunday pay premiums
