The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a dynamic and practiced professional to join our corporate management team as the General Manager, Corporate Services. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager Corporate Services will be responsible for overseeing and providing strategic direction to the Corporate Services Division including corporate information technology, legislative services, financial services as well as our protective services encompassing Fire and RCMP support. The General Manager, Corporate Services provides strategic leadership to a team of professionals focused on providing service to the organization, and to residents of our community.

The ideal candidate will be a “big picture” thinker and provide leadership, policy direction, coordination and expertise in the areas municipal finance, corporate administration, information technology, protective services and public safety.  The incumbent will ensure the departments and functions are able to respond to the present and future needs of the municipality through clear objectives, direction, policies, and procedures. The General Manager Corporate Services creates a work environment that allows employees and teams to excel.  Thorough understanding of local government objectives and issues, a proactive approach, and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external customers, including the Board of Directors and member municipalities.

A minimum of ten (10) years of management experience with increasing responsibility is required. This experience would be supported by a Bachelor’s degree and/or professional designations. The ideal candidate will be an experienced strategic departmental leader known for your ability to execute and deliver results on time and within budget. You have managed multimillion dollar operations and are known for your ability to build award winning teams fully committed to customer service excellence. You need to be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external as well as Council.  You have excellent business acumen coupled with strong analytical skills and known for your use of logic and data to present opportunities, or to resolve situations. You have experience managing diverse teams in a unionized environment and well respected for your professionalism, commitment and passion in your leadership role. You hold your staff accountable and are known for setting work objectives that are aggressive yet realistic.
