Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by truck driving experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the rules of safe operation and of the precautions necessary to avoid accidents in driving a garbage truck. Considerable knowledge of collection schedules, of areas serviced, and of rules and regulations governing the work performed; of City streets and traffic routes. Ability to follow work schedules and supervise the work of a subordinate; to prepare and maintain simple records, provide information and explain applicable rules and regulations to the public; and to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Skill in the operation of a scavenging truck in the collection of garbage and refuse. Mechanical aptitude. Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
