The Nelson and District Youth Centre is currently accepting applications for a Youth Centre Program Coordinator.

Reporting to the Youth Centre Manager, the Program Coordinator will ensure the initiation, promotion, and delivery of ongoing and special event Youth Centre programs in order to help the City of Nelson achieve its goal of being the number one Municipality in Canada based on value for service. To do this, the Youth Centre Program Coordinator will also provide supervision of all floor staff, as well as ensure scheduled and drop in activities and programs are accessible to all members of the community

  • Education, Training and Experience:
  • Grade 12 Graduation or GED
  • Successful completion of a Child and Youth Worker Diploma Program
  • OR and equivalent combination of education, training & experience
  • 2 years recent related experience including providing direction to staff
  • Experience creating, implementing and evaluating programs
  • Relevant experience in public speaking and marketing
  • Basic First Aid

The rate is Pay Grade 12 ($18.00/hr) working a 35 hour work week and scheduled Tuesday through Saturday. The position is part of the CUPE Local 339 Bargaining Unit – Schedule B, Terms and Conditions of Employment for Nelson and District Youth Centre Staff.

In keeping with the Criminal Records Review Act, this position will require a Criminal Records check including a Vulnerable Sector search as a condition of employment prior to starting work with the City of Nelson.
