We are looking for a Deputy Corporate Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment; an effective communicator who will bring a high degree of respect for protocol, process and procedure.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Administration (Corporate Officer), the Deputy Corporate Officer assists with day-to-day management of the Legislative Services area.  Your primary responsibility will be the management and coordination of Council meeting processes, including agendas, minutes, videos, public notifications and meeting logistics, receiving information for preparing agendas, as well as providing advice to Council, Managers and staff. 
You will participate in key projects and corporate initiatives under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Administration and assumes the role of Corporate Officer when necessary.  The position acts as Deputy Chief Elections Officer.

In this position you will supervise legislative services staff, collaborate and work with administrative support staff, other departments and outside agencies in coordinating meetings with key partners of the City, such as school district, other municipalities, and senior level governments, and hosting civic functions, receptions and celebrations.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A Certified Municipal Clerk designation, diploma/degree in Local Government Administration or Intermediate Certificate, Local Government Administration, supplemented by Local Government/Business administration or legal courses.
  • Five years of related experience with a minimum of three years’ experience supervising staff is preferred.
  • A valid Province of British Columbia Driver’s License is required

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment.
